Could I Need Cataract Surgery?

A cataract is a cloudiness of the eye’s lens, found between the front and back of the eye. Cataracts often begin small, and progress over time growing larger and further clouding your vision.  If you are growing older and have started to notice cloudy vision it is important to report this to Dr. Thom. It may not be time for surgery, but it is time to start monitoring your condition.

The most common treatment of a cataract is to surgically remove it from the eye and replace the lens. Cataract surgery carries some risks, but is the most common surgery performed in the United States every year.

You will notice immediately clearer vision following cataract surgery. You may have to wear reading glasses following treatment but this is not true for every patient.
