An eyelid surgery, or a blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure involving the eyelids that many of our patients in Fargo undergo here at Thom Eye and Laser Clinic. Droopy or sagging eyelids can make one look attractive. It hides the natural beauty of the eyes and even prevents one from seeing normally. Blepharoplasty is the surgery that can address this condition.
But what happens after blepharoplasty? Should you be worried? Here are things you need to know to keep your anxiety away.
Side Effects to Expect
If the side effects and after-treatment sensations concern you most, you can expect swelling and redness around the treated areas where incisions were made. However, these symptoms are only minimal and temporary. Moreover, you may notice your eyes to tear excessively. Some sensitivity to light may also be present as a temporary side effect of the treatment.
In case of dryness in the eyes, application of an ointment prescribed by Dr. Thom can alleviate the condition. When applying the treatment, some blurring of vision may be felt as a side effect of the drug. Make sure that you are under a safe and recovery-friendly environment when applying the medication.
Duration of Recovery
Usually, stitches will be removed after two days to one week. Within the first week following blepharoplasty, make sure to give your eyes plenty of rest. You need a lot of it to help them recover quickly.
